July 9, 2007 -- Construction at RDP started today with the clearing of the land and planting of the grazing areas. The grazing areas are being established first so they will have adequate time to develop into lush and stable pastures. The pastures are being planting with a combination of alfalfa and native grasses. Alfalfa will provide a fine nutrient level for the horses, while the native grasses will provide a stable, and robust base that will stand up to horse traffic over the course of the year. The next phases of the project will include construction of the perimeter wall, entrance gates, perimeter fencing, underground utilities, and roads. The sables and stable support facilities are slated next. And then, the circular pen, arena and pasture fencing. Boarding operations are slated to commence in the Fall of 2009; reservations will be accepted starting late in 2008.
